4th-grade-girls-2019-20


Summary

The 3/4 Grade Legends are competing in the 5th grade league at the Jewish Memorial Center in Altoona. The team returns seven players from last season's team that won the second place trophy in the winter league in Philipsburg. The team has added three new players for this season.

Natalie Huggins

Natalie is starting her second year as a Legend.

2019-20

Natalie Huggins was third among the guard in rebounds with 10.  Natalie was a solid inbounder as she moved from the post position.  She had a rebound in every game, and a season high of 3 against the second place New Pig team.


2018-19

Natalie Huggins transitioned from post to guard as the season progressed and was the primary inbounder.  Natalie became a strong help defender using her size to disrupt drives to the basket and became more sure handed as the season went on.  She had 5 rebounds in the two playoff games.  Scored a huge basket in a victory in the Juniata Valley YMCA March Madness.

Rainey Walker

Rainey "Megawatt" Walker is starting her second year as a Legend.

2019-20

Rainey “Megawatt” Walker appeared in only 3 games in the Fall season but scored 6 points and grabbed three steals during her action.  She had a strong game against the Logan Wildcats scoring 4 points and grabbing 2 steals.

2018-19

Rainey “Megawatt” Walker bought high energy to every game, playing all three guard positions.  Was third on the team in scoring with 30 points and led the team in assists with 8.  She also finished 5th on the team with 29 rebounds, 4th with 26 steals and 2nd with 7 blocked shots.  Her biggest moments came in the semi-final victory when she ran point for the last five minutes of regulation and OT and scored 4 points down the stretch.

Mira Coble


Mira is starting her second year as a Legend.

2019-20

Mira Coble was one of the primary ball handlers for the Fall season.  She was tied for the team lead in assists and points, and was 4th in rebounds with 18.  She was also second in steals with 11.  Mira’s best game came against the Logan Wildcats when she had 4 points and 6 steals.

2018-19

Mira Coble had a stellar first season playing both post and guard.  She was second on the team in assists with 6, 4th in rebounds with 52, 4th on the team in steals with 26 and 2nd in scoring with 50 points.  Developed into a strong ball handler with both hands.  Had the game winning basket in the semi-final win in which she had 4 points and 6 rebounds.   Had 10 points in victory over the Hot Shots.

Nora Marsh

Nora is starting her first year as a Legend.


2019-20

Nora led her team in rebounds with 31 and blocked shots with 11 in the Fall season.  She had a career high 8 rebounds against the undefeated Ravine team. She was third on the team in scoring and led the team in foul shooting percentage shooting 75% (3-4).

Victoria Witmer

Victoria is starting her second year as a Legend.

2019-20

Victoria Witmer was one of the primary ball handlers for the Fall season.  She became more aggressive as the season went on grabbing 3 steals over the last two games finishing 4th on the team.  She also played strong man-to-man defense on the opposing point guards.


2018-19

Victoria Witmer played all three guard positions and used both the left and right side of the court.  She was a sure handed defender grabbing 14 steals and 16 rebounds.  She also handed out 5 assists for fourth best on the team.  Had an assist and 3 rebounds in the semi-final win.  Had 4 second half points in exciting tie at the JMC leading the team in a 9 point comeback.  Made first lefty layup for the team.

Ruby Weight

Ruby is starting her second year as a Legend.

2019-20

Ruby Weight was a powerful post player in the Fall season.  Ruby was 5th in rebounding with 15 and 4th in scoring.  She was instrumental in breaking the press with her quick passing.  She had a strong game against the undefeated Ravine team grabbing four rebounds and scoring.


2018-19


Ruby Weight made steady progress during the season and became a force on the inside.  Ruby developed her boxing out technique and helped seal the inside for rebounds.  She was also an aggressive help defender.  Had 2 rebounds in a victory over the Hot Shots and a particularly strong defensive game against Tyrone in a tough loss.

Ally Swauger

Ally is starting her second year as a Legend.

2019-20

Ally Swauger was led the team in offensive rebounds in the Fall season with 10, and was third overall with 22 boards.  She also tied for the team lead in assists, steals (17) and foul shots attempted.  Her best defensive game came against the undefeated Ravine team when she had 6 steals.

2018-19

Ally Swauger played post and was a big presence in the paint on offense and defense.   She was 4th on the team in scoring with 29 points, second in rebounding with 57 and third in steals with 28.  Ally ran the pick and roll very effectively and was very active on defense.  Game high was 6 points.  Grabbed the final rebound to clinch the semi-final victory.  Led the team in offensive rebounds with 39.

Stella Gallagher

Stella is starting her second year as a Legend.

2019-20

Stella Gallagher continued to improve her game at the post.  She grabbed two steals on the year and often performed the tip-off to start games.  Stella clogged the middle of the defense by challenging shots.


2018-19

Stella Gallagher played post and created a lot of problems for the opposing offenses with her activity.  She was tenacious on the boards and defense grabbing 7 steals and tipping many passes.  She saved her best games for down the stretch.  She had 3 steals in the semi-final victory and had 1 more in the championship game.

Elise is starting her first year as a Legend

Sydney Mikesic

Sydney is starting first year as a Legend.


2019-20

Sydney “Syd Vicious” Mikesic had a strong first season with the Legends tying for the team lead in scoring and grabbing the second most rebounds with 23.  Syd’s 7 steals were good for 3rd on the team.  She had a season high 4 points against Biter electric.
